Tersanas is a small village situated around Tersanas Bay, with wonderful views over the Bay of Chania. It is located on the west coast of the peninsula of Akrotiri, in the prefecture of Chania, 17 kilometers from the historic City of Chania and 8 kilometers from Chania airport.
It consists of two small sandy beaches around a small bay protected from winds and waves. The beach and shallow waters are ideal for families and a canteen is open from early morning until late evening. Sun beds and umbrellas are available for rent on the beach. A few small hotels, apartments and studios are scattered in the area, and there is a tavern on the road to the tip of the bay passed the small beach.
It is a very good choice for a quiet and pleasant day out with the kids, not too far from Chania.
The beach is very popular to both locals and foreign visitors, it can get crowded during the weekends when the locals like to spend some time on the beach with their families.
One km inland is the village of Horafakia where you can find some facilities and taverns.
It is a peaceful, quiet area ideal for bird watching or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
Close to Tersanas there are two other nice beaches Kalathas (3 km) and Stavros (4 km).
